Seriously, i doubt if anyone does as well.
Truth to be told, how many people actually really want to know the heartfelt and honest answer to the question asked?
Many would be satisfied with a "I'm fine. Thanks."
Few would press on to dissect what is indeed going on in the other person's life but i suppose this is a widely accepted social norm now.

Instead of a warm, earnest greeting, i suppose it is a common tool to get us out of awkward situations. Now, is that not kind of regrettable?
